In the field of e-mobility, both in publicly funded projects and in bilateral research projects with industrial partners, novel electric and hybrid drive concepts (e.g. high-speed electric drive concepts or dedicated hybrid electric drives) are optimized, developed and tested on test benches or in the vehicle, see also Powertrains.
In research in the field of e-mobility, importance is attached to the development of optimal powertrain systems on the one hand, but also to the fact that the “vehicle” is not seen in an isolated form, but always in the overall context of real user behaviour and energy supply. In the holistic view, the sectors of transport respectively mobility, energy and buildings are thus examined in an integrated manner and both ecologically and economically optimal solutions are strived for.
The core competences of the IMS in E-Mobility and Energy Systems are brought together and jointly researched in sector integration.
