Practical Course "Actuators for Mechatronic Systems"

The practical course “Actuators for mechatronic systems” is a course held in cooperation with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. It includes seven different experiments that students use to investigate the characteristics of different actuators. The experiments on pneumatic cylinder, piezo actuator and electromagnet are supervised by the IMS.

To qualify team skills, students work in groups. An important aspect of the practical course is the documentation of the experimental setup, the execution and the results in a protocol. The experiments are carried out under the instruction of tutors. The students are taught practical knowledge of various actuators, which includes both operation and real-world characteristics. The evaluation of the measurement data on the experiments enables the comparison of theory and practice. This course thus offers a good opportunity to apply learned theoretical knowledge in practical applications.
