DELTA - Darmstadt Energy Lab for Technologies in Application

In May, the eighth "Reallabor der Energiewende" was launched in Darmstadt. Under the title "DELTA – Darmstadt Energy Lab for Technologies in Application", twelve partners from industry and research, including municipal companies and innovative startups, have come together to jointly demonstrate how the energy transformation can be practically implemented in an urban environment.

The Institute of Mechatronic Systems in Mechanical Engineering at Darmstadt University of Technology is pleased to participate in the DELTA project to research and implement innovative energy solutions in collaboration with the Darmstadt consortium. The focus of the IMS here is primarily on the energy optimization of residential neighborhoods and the public transport depot in Darmstadt. In both use cases, the connection of the sectors buildings, energy and mobility is the focus of the activities.

In several subprojects, a typical residential neighborhood, an industrial site, and urban utilities and public transport depots will be linked by lines and storage facilities for electricity, gas, heat, and hydrogen. The energy flows are optimized using digital methods.
