Aaron Kappes studied mechanical engineering at TU Darmstadt and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg (VA, USA). In his bachelor thesis and during his part-time job as a research assistant he dealt with the mechanical design of high-speed electrical machines. In his master's studies he focused on automotive engineering with special emphasis on future drive technologies. He gained his first practical experience during an internship in benchmarking and a master thesis on transmission losses in hybrid concept comparisons in the R&D department of “Powertrain & Electric Drives” at Daimler AG.
Since May 2020 he is a member of the “Vehicle Systems” research group at IMS and is engaged in the design of future drive concepts.
