Thomas Franzelin, M.Sc.

Thomas Franzelin studied Mechanical Engineering at the TU Munich. Apart from the main topics of mechanical engineering, he focused on the fields of automation, measurement and sensor technology. During his Master’s Thesis he evaluated the measurement uncertainty of a high-speed electromechanical test rig.

Since February 2021 he is a doctoral candidate at the IMS and part of the Energy Systems research group. His research focuses on hybrid energy storages systems and their application within the ETA-Fabrik. In particular with regard to Sectoral Integration he is involved in the investigation of the use of bi-directional charging stations for industrial energy systems. In the same context he is involved in the implementation of charging strategies in order to optimize energy flows in consideration of the requirements and goals of driver, plant and charging system.
