Tobias Peichl studied mechanical engineering at TU Darmstadt and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Blacksburg, VA, USA) with focus on design and simulation in the automotive sector. In his bachelor's thesis, he worked on the hardware and software of an autonomous, electrically driven rover for acoustic measurements in collaboration with NASA. During an internship at ZF Friedrichshafen AG in Schweinfurt, he designed manufacturing machines for electric motors in prototype construction, including for racing in Formula E. In his master's thesis, he commissioned a test rig for determining heat transfer coefficients in the forming of high-strength aluminum alloys in car body construction.
Since August 2021, he has been employed as a research associate at IMS in the Vehicle Systems Research Group with the aim of obtaining a doctorate. His research focus is on overall systems for alternative mobility concepts in cities.
