Dr.-Ing. Zhihong Liu

Dr.-Ing. Zhihong Liu studied mechanical engineering at the TU Darmstadt (M.Sc.) and the East China University of Science and Technology (B.Sc.). During the studies, he concentrated on mechatronic systems, structural mechanics and vehicle transmissions. Within his internship at Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems GmbH & C. KG, he focused on structure mechanics of turbochargers. In his master thesis, an innovative model was developed for analyzing the drag torques of synchronizers in vehicle transmissions.

From 2018 to 2022, he was a doctoral candidate in the research group “Vehicle Systems”. His major research objectives are measurement of power losses in vehicles and dealing with the parametric uncertainties in the modeling. With the developed adaptive design strategy and sensitivity analysis based stochastic identification, he completed his dissertation entitled “Methodology Development for Inverse Analysis of Torque Loss Modeling in Transmissions”.

Since March 2023, he works as a senior researcher and is responsible for the powertrain test lab.
